Thank you for taking the time to participate in the Missing Kids Online Alerts program. It is our hope that with your help, and the help of others, we can aid local law-enforcement agencies in the search for missing and endangered children.

Please carefully read the instructions from beginning to end before installing the program.

1. Use the Download Now button at the bottom of this page to begin the download process. If nothing happens, please type, or copy and paste, this URL ncmec.webroot.com/download/mkalertnet.exe manually into the address bar of your browser. Be sure to enter the web site address in lower case letters or the link will not work correctly.

2. When you connect to the site a message box will appear with the title 'File Download'. You will be given two options; 'Run this program' or 'Save this program to disk'. Choose 'Save this program to disk' and click on the OK button.

3. A second message box will appear with the title 'Save As'. At the top is a selection box marked 'Save in'. Use the gray down arrow at the end of this box to select 'Desktop'. Once you have done this click on the Save button at the bottom of the message box.

4. A download box will appear, displaying the status of the download. It will disappear when the download is complete. If it does not, the box title will change to 'Download complete'. Select the Close button at the bottom of the message box.

5. Find the ncmecsetup.exe file on your desktop (the name may be abbreviated by Windows). Verify that you are still connected to the Internet and then double-click on the file with your "left" mouse button.

6. A message box will appear asking if you wish to install the program to your computer. Click the Yes button at the bottom of the box.

7. A welcome screen will appear. Please read the message and the accompanying overview. Once you have finished, click the Next button.

8. The next screen will ask you to what location you would like the program installed. The default location is C:\Program Files\Webroot\MKANalert\. To select this destination click on the Next button.

9. The program will complete installation. Click on the Next button to register.

10. Registration is a necessary step in the process that informs Webroot of the information that you wish to receive through this service. Please fill out the information, verify that it is correct, then click on the Submit button.

11. Once you have completed registering, you should receive a 'Registration Complete'. Click on the Close button at the bottom of the message box. If you receive anything but the 'Registration Complete' message, please contact support@webroot.com with a description of your problem.

12. The User Interface for the Missing Kids Online Alerts will appear.

You have now successfully installed the Missing Kids Online Alerts and will receive alerts as they are issued by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
